Polling results released Tuesday night had challenger Shawn T. McMahon unseating incumbent Bradley J. Kraus for the Elk County District Attorney in Tuesday's municipal primary election.
EMLENTON – It was a pitching tour de force by Ridgway starting pitcher Josh Mitchell against A-C Valley.
Mitchell struck out 17 A-C Valley hitters and allowed just one hit as Ridgway won 3-0 in the first round of the District 9 Class A baseball playoffs Tuesday afternoon.
"I just want to thank my teammates," Mitchell said. "Ben (MacDonald) called a great game. It also helped for us scoring runs too in the fifth inning. I probably wouldn't have momentum and adrenaline to finish up."
Road construction at the intersection of North Broad Street and Main Street in downtown Ridgway is under way and motorists are advised to take an alternate route to avoid congestion.

KNOX – Keystone softball rallied with a 4-run seventh inning to win 8-7 over Ridgway in the first round of the District 9 Class A softball playoffs held Monday afternoon at Keystone High School.
Elk County Prison Warden Greg Gebauer appealed to the Elk County Commissioners in their meeting Monday to approve creation of a Senior Sergeant's position at the prison.

The Relay for Life event for Elk County will feature a few notable changes and additions this year, none more pronounced, however, than the switch to a Saturday and Sunday event.

BRADFORD - McKean County law enforcement have tracked down and arrested a Bradford fugitive in Florida, where they say the man fled after giving police the slip by jumping out of a window at his Welch Avenue home.
