HIGHLAND TWP. – Three Kane residents were killed in a two-vehicle crash late Thursday night near the intersection of Routes 66 and 948 in Highland Township.
ST. MARYS – Motorcycle enthusiasts now have the option of taking the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program's Basic Rider Course (BRC) and Basic Rider Course 2 (BRC2) in St. Marys as Elk County Catholic High School was recently added to the list of the state's training sites. There is no cost for the program, and motorcycles and helmets are provided for those enrolled in the BRC.
ST. MARYS – A St. Marys man is imprisoned for allegedly pulling a gun on police after leading them on a high speed chase while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The North Central Regional Planning Development Commission is holding just over $5 million in total assets, a nearly $2 million dollar drop from last year, with expenses over $7 million and liabilities over $6 million. This according to a state audit of the organization's financial records dated March 22.

HIGHLAND TWP. – Two victims reportedly died late Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash between an automobile and a water truck, according to unconfirmed scanner reports.

Sean Papa of the Ridgway Ambulance Corporation attended Wednesday afternoon's meeting of the Ridgway Township Board of Supervisors in response to a statement reportedly made by secretary Jack Fowler of the Johnsonburg Fire Department.

The Ridgway Township Board of Supervisors continued a lengthy discussion from a regular meeting in April concerning the adoption of a Marcellus Shale drilling ordinance.
Ripple effects of the federal budget sequester in Washington D.C. are already being felt in our area with everything from schools to public legal defenders bracing for, or already experiencing, funding cuts. But the latest blow has been dealt to the North Central Pa. Regional Planning and Development Commission, a largely grants-driven regional program in charge of distributing governmental funds to area communities, industry, economic growth, workforce quality, and business opportunity.
