Katherine Rose Luhr, 63, of New Brighton, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014.
She was born April 3, 1951 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alvin and Caroline Knouse Luhr.
The first part of her life was spent at home in St. Marys. In 2001, she moved to McGuire Memorial Home in New Brighton where she resided until her death.
Kathy enjoyed working in the greenhouse, swimming, football, social activities, and especially, her baseball hat collection.
Although she was a special needs person, she reminded us of the preciousness of life with her boundless energy.
Clifford R. Snyder, 78, of St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born March 11, 1936 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Caroline Schatz Snyder.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1954. He was a former employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, DePratorâ€™s Beverage, Oak Manor, and the Dickinson Center.
On Sept. 30, 1961 in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, he married Catherine A. Simchick, who survives.
Barbara Ann (Caggeso) Emanuele, 64, of Oil City, died at 4:51 p.m. Friday Sept. 19, 2014 while surrounded by her family and friends.
Barb was born in Ridgway on Jan. 21, 1950,Â the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fragale Caggeso.
Barb graduated from Ridgway High School and she earned a business administration degree from Robert Morris College.
She was married May 17, 1980 at St. Leo Magnus Catholic Church in Ridgway to Giuseppe â€ťJoeâ€ť Emanuele and he survives.
John "Tyke" Hulings, 77, of 126 West Virginia Ave, James City,Â died Friday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2014 in James CityÂ at the home of his daughter.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1936 inÂ James City, the son of the late George and Evelyn Confer Hulings.Â On April 14, 1956 he married Donna Edinger, who preceded him in death.
Mr.Â Hulings was aÂ member of the Kane Senior Center and also the Northwestern Pennsylvania Polka Boosters.Â He attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the National Guards.
Melissa Birch Howard, 57, of 311 Jackson Ave., Ridgway, died in the early hours of Saturday morning, Sept. 27, 2014 at her residence following a 16-month illness.
She was born July 9, 1957, the daughter of Betty Matha and Alan Birch of Ridgway.
Melissa resided in Ridgway for the majority of her life. She was a basketball coach for the Ridgway Area School District and a member of the Elks Club. She was employed by Dickinson Center Inc.â€™s Adult Habilitation Center as a therapeutic activities services worker for over 20 years and was the waitress at the Elks Club for five years.
Henry J. â€śBudâ€ť Fasenmyer, 91, of 34 Warren Blvd, Warren, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, surrounded by his family at home.
Bud was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Oil City, son of the late James and Martina Schill Fasenmyer.Â
Bud was a 1941 graduate of Cranberry High School, and had served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre as an infantry rifleman and later as a telegraph line repairman.
Helen Louise (Reed) Olson and Arthur E. Olson Jr. will be interned together at Oakmont Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Helen Reed is the daughter of Ruth and Roland Reed, formerly of Park Avenue in Ridgway, and Arthur Olson Jr. is the son of Arthur and Viola Olson, formerly of Sherman Avenue in Ridgway. They met while in the junior high band.
They both graduated from Ridgway High School in 1940, and were married in 1942, a marriage that would last 70 years.
Amy J. Sain, 36, of Seven Fields, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Sain; her children, Riley and Ryan; her parents, Theodore and Lorraine Wawrykow; a brother, Joseph C. Wawrykow (Dominique); in-laws Donald and Leah (Dowie) Sain; sisters-in-law Diane Marzula (John), Lisa Jennings (William), Paula Canterino (Joseph), Debbie Sain and Jackie Means (Walker); brothers-in-law Douglas Sain (Leanne) and Robert Campana (Martha); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edwin P. â€śKatâ€ť Polaski Sr., 92, of Bergen Street, Johnsonburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 6, 1922 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Peter and Stella (Machcoviak) Polaski.
On Oct. 25, 1952, he married Dorothy Carnahan, who preceded him in death June 20, 1979.
He served in the Army during WWII and worked at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill for 47 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and lived all his life in Johnsonburg.
Robert Gardner, 95, a lifelong resident of Ridgway, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was born July 11, 1919, in Ridgway, son of the late Elmer and Susie (Wilson) Gardner.
He was married to Genevieve M. Assalone on Feb. 10, 1945 at St. Leo's Church. His only daughter, Kathleen Gardner, survives.
