Marie Aharrah, 85, formerly of 457 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 3, 1928 in Heath Township, Jefferson County, daughter of the late Harry and Keith (Painter) Silvis. She married John D. (Nip) Aharrah on Aug. 5, 1950, he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2007.
Mary K. Placer, 76, of Ridgway, formerly of Sistersville, W. Va., died suddenly Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at her residence in Ridgway with her son Jeff at her side.
She was born Dec. 11, 1937 in Alvy, W. Va., daughter of the late Leonard and Oma Glover.
She married R. Homer Placer on July 3, 1957.
Mary attended Tyler County High School in West Virginia. She was a homemaker and worked various jobs in West Virginia, including Murphy's restaurant and home care/babysitting.
Gerald E. Geitner, 59, of 31081 Portland Mills Rd., Ridgway, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at home following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 7 1954 in St. Marys, son of the late Louis and Theresa DePanfilis Geitner of Ridgway.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Theresa Zameroski Geitner, whom he married on Feb. 12, 2009.
Conrad Leo Reuscher, 73, of 3008 Squab Hollow Rd., Kersey, formerly of 102 South Paul Rd., St. Marys, accepted his Lord and Saviorâ€™s invitation to come home on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.
He was born on February 27, 1940 in St. Marys to the late Benedict and Edna (Lanzel) Reuscher. On August 25, 1962, he married the love of his life, Donna Anderson Reuscher, who survives.
Paul E. Neureiter, 55, of 191 Skyline Dr., Kersey died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 7, 1958 in Ridgway, son of the late Norbert E. and Doris J. Ohlin Neureiter.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School class of 1976.
He was a former employee of GKN in Kersey. He was a member of the Maria Lutheran Church in Dagus Mines and served as president of the Fox Twp. Fire Dept.
Gertrude P. "Dee Dee" Roberts, 90, of 424 Pattison St., St. Marys, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born on June 17, 1923, in Ridgway, the daughter of Frank and Christine LaSorto Viglione. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Roberts.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys. Mrs. Roberts had been employed at the Elliott Co. and the Royal Motel. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Grace, Nellie, and Marian Viglione; a brother-in-law, John Lloyd; and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Carmella R. Caggiano, 99, a resident of Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility in Ridgway, died at her residence on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
Carm was born in Ridgway on Aug. 6, 1914 to Ralph and Theresa Panetta Testa. She attended the Ridgway Public Schools.
She was a lifelong member of St. Leo's Church. On July 12, 1947, she married Sylvester Caggiano who preceded her in death on May 14, 1970. In her early years, she was employed at Stackpole Carbon Company in St. Marys and was a baker at the Bogert Hotel in Ridgway.

Courtney Ann Kreckel, 38, of Port Richey, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 21, 1975 in Ridgway, daughter of Raymond Kreckel and Carol (Akers) Dinsmore.
She was a homemaker who was raised in Johnsonburg and has lived the past 20 years in Florida.
Marie I. Swanson, 92, formerly of 136 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, died Friday morning, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility.
She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Coal Glen, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (McLaughlin) Luke.
She married Verner F. Swanson on May 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2002.
She had resided in Dagus Mines for many years. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Covenant Women.
Daniel E. "Squeaky" Miller Sr., 64, a resident of Highland View Health Care in Brockway, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born May 18, 1949 in Ridgway, a son of the late Lawrence and Sophie Flacinski Miller.
Mr. Miller lived most of his life in Elk County, with the Miller homestead being located in Wilcox. He worked for several years at Motion Control in Ridgway and at St. Marys Pressed Metals. He enjoyed hunting, working, remodeling houses and working on cars.Â He also had a great love for dogs and eagles.
