KERSEY â€“ The Fox Township Supervisors began their Wednesday evening meeting by observing a moment of silence for Blaine E. "Skeeter" Wildnauer Jr., a Fox Twp. volunteer firefighter who died in the line of duty on Saturday.
QUEHANNA â€“Â Students in a wildlife management techniques class at Penn State DuBois found themselves out of the classroom and actually out in the field earlier this week as they traveled to the Pennsylvania Game Commission's elk check station in Quehanna and had the opportunity to assist PGC staff in examining and taking samples from elk harvested in this year's elk hunt.
Janice M. Molella, 80, of Cushing Avenue, Johnsonburg, died late Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at UPMC Hamot of Erie after a short illness.
She was born April 15, 1933 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Koppitch) Grabofski.
A graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, Class of 1951, she had been employed as an LPN at the hospital in St. Marys for 40 years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and lived all her life in Johnsonburg.
The Ridgway boys golf team was honored with a banquet Monday evening at Laurel Mill Golf Course.
The Elkers finished the season with a 13-0 record and finished the season with multiple championships. Ridgway finished as the AML champions, Elk County champions and District 9 team champions.
St. Marys has a new mayor and a tight race in Fox Township ended with a six-vote margin at the conclusion of the Tuesday election.
Bob Howard, who was once the mayor of Ridgway, was successful Tuesday in his campaign for mayor of St. Marys. He earned 1,460 votes, good enough to top Lyle H. Garner who had 1,083 votes.
Ridgway Township voters opposed the formation of a commission to study the existing form of municipal government in Ridgway Township and the feasibility of having a home rule charter after the polls closed Tuesday night.
With north and south Ridgway Township reporting, 344 voters were opposed to the formation of the committee and 238 voters were in favor.

Michael Paul Jundzilo, 30, of Culbertson, Mont., formerly of 224 Maplewood Ln., Johnsonburg died Friday evening, Nov. 1, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident between Sidney and Culbertson, Mont.
He was born on May 28, 1983 in St. Marys, son of Gary M. and Diane Northrop Jundzilo, who survive.
He resided in Montana for the past year and lived most of his life in Johnsonburg.
He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School in 2001. He was employed at Excel Industries, in Montana.
Michael was involved in Cub Scouts, Pack 82 and loved hunting and fishing.
Information obtained Monday morning has added a new twist to today's election regarding the possible approval of a seven-member commission entrusted with the task of studying the feasibility of a home rule charter in Ridgway Township.
