Johnsonburg volleyball falls 3-0 to DuBois

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg volleyball lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 27-25) to DuBois Monday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
“A lot of inconsistency,” Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. “We can’t seem to put a whole game together. Although I thought in the third game there was more consistent play than the first two. You can tell by the score, it was the closest of the three. Although, there we were, we probable had that game won a couple times and then just made three errors in a row.”

Crusaders dominate Hubbers for 53-6 victory

The Elk County Catholic Crusader football team played host to the Smethport Hubbers for a chilly Saturday evening game at Dutch Country Stadium this week. The Crusaders led all the way, dominating the Hubbers for a 53-6 victory.
"Offensively, it took us a half, but we started clicking in the second half," said ECC head coach Tony Gerg. "Smethport is a very well-coached team. It was just our night tonight."

Ridgway boys golf takes third at Bradford Invite

Ridgway boys golf finished third at the Bradford Area High School Invitational held Saturday afternoon at Bradford.
Ridgway finished with a team score of 250. Each team took three players and played 18 holes. Josh Roselli was the day's overall medalist as he shot a 74 over 18 holes. TJ Schlimm carded an 82 and Nick Simon finished with a 94.

Lady Crusaders top Lady Elkers 1-0 in Bucktail consolation game

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders and Ridgway Lady Elkers met for a rematch on Saturday morning in the consolation game of the Bucktail Girls' Soccer Tournament at the SMAHS soccer field. As was the case in their game earlier this season, ECC emerged with the 1-0 victory.
"I'm happy with the win," said ECC head coach Kelli Brannock. "I think we definitely controlled the first half more than the score showed."

Ridgway football runs past Terrors, opens season at 3-0

After being tied 7-7 at halftime, a key fourth-quarter interception and three second-half touchdowns propelled Ridgway to a 28-7 victory over AML North foe Otto-Eldred Friday night at Otto-Eldred High School.

Kirstie Wehler records 1,000th kill as ECC tops Brockway

ST. MARYS – Lady Crusader senior Kirstie Wehler recorded the 1,000th kill of her high school volleyball career on Thursday evening as the ECC squad defeated the Brockway Lady Rovers in three sets in a match played at the ECCHS gymnasium. ECC rallied to win the first set 25-23, and then had smoother sailing in the next two sets, winning 25-8 and 25-13, respectively.
ECC head coach Diane Gies cited improvement with her team's serves as an example of the progress the squad has been making.

Lady Crusader tennis team defeats Johnsonburg, 7-2

JOHNSONBURG – The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader tennis team defeated the Johnsonburg Ramettes by a 7-2 score in a match played at Johnsonburg Thursday.
“It’s always an enjoyable experience when we play a match against Johnsonburg. All of their players are incredibly nice, they have a great coaching staff, and they always play really good tennis,” said ECCHS coach Pete Meier.

Lady Dutch girls soccer downs Ridgway Lady Elkers, 2-0

St. Marys girls soccer used a pair of first-half goals for a 2-0 victory over Ridgway in action Wednesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
“It was just better execution and intensity,” St. Marys coach Eric Bridges said. “The girls came out with the right degree of enthusiasm and teamwork. The fundamentals have always been there, it’s just today it jelled, it came together. We worked cohesively as a team and it paid off.”

Ridgway girls golf was the host of an AML match held Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Club.
Katie Thompson finished with a 64 for the Lady Elkers while Shania Reitz carded a 70.

KANE – The Kane High boys soccer team hosted Ridgway Tuesday in a match that featured plenty of back-and-forth action and lots and lots of goals.
Ridgway prevailed 8-5 as senior Justin Kinkead scored five goals to lead the Elkers to their fourth win in five matches in the past seven days.
