Anne Richardson (Lewallen) Forbes

Anne Richardson (Lewallen) Forbes, 87, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at Emeritus at Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Forbes was born on May 21, 1923 in Asheboro, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Joseph T. and Lillian (Richardson) Lewallen. Anne graduated from Greensboro College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While living in Ridgway, she owned and operated Anne Forbes Nursery School. After living in Ridgway, she and her husband moved to Six Mile, South Carolina. She was a talented artist, working in different mediums and crafts, specializing in water colors. Mrs. Forbes loved children, and published a book on early childhood education. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She also touched countless lives as an early childhood educator.
On Dec. 28, 1946, she married Stanley E. Forbes, who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2009.
Mrs. Forbes is survived by a daughter, Cathy Zameroski, and husband Ronald of Massanutten, Va.; a son, Jeffery Scott Forbes, and wife Mary of Madison, Miss.; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph T. Lewallen, Jr.
Burial will be held privately and a memorial will be held at a later date.
