Benninger wins silver medal in triple jump

Johnsonburg triple jumper Gabbi Benninger finished a co-silver medalist for Johnsonburg track and field after completion of the second day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships Saturday at Shippensburg University.

SHIPPENSBURG – Johnsonburg triple jumper Gabbi Benninger finished a co-silver medalist for Johnsonburg track and field after completion of the second day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships Saturday at Shippensburg University.
Benninger tied for second with her jump of 36-9.5. Kayla Caruso of Montoursville also jumped 36-9.5. Lanae Newsome of Brookville won the state championship in triple jump with her mark of 39-6.75. Newsome is the state record-holder in triple jump with her mark of 40-3.5 set last year at the state meet. Newsome will be graduating this year.
Johnsonburg junior Ashley Imbrogno finished 11th in the javelin with a mark of 117-2.
Johnsonburg girls finished with seven team points in a tie for 35th. Johnsonburg boys tied for 45th with four team points.
