The 38th annual â€śBig 30 Don Raabe Charities Classicâ€ť will be played Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Parkway Field in Bradford, PA.Â The first thirty-seven games have produced nearly 1.4 million dollars which have been given to numerous charities and personal causes throughout the twin-tiers.
Teams consist of graduated seniors from 30 high schools in Pennsylvania and New York.Â
The New York team is comprised of players from: Allegany-Limestone, Bolivar-Richburg, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Cuba-Rushford, Ellicottville, Franklinville, Frewsburg, Gowanda, Olean, Pioneer, Portville, Randolph, Salamanca, Southwestern and Wellsville.
The Pennsylvania team is comprised of players from: Bradford, Cameron County, Coudersport, Eisenhower, Elk County Catholic, Kane, Johnsonburg, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany, Ridgway, Sheffield, Smethport, St Marys, Warren and Youngsville.
The names of three players that have accepted invitations this week are as follows:
Port Allegany High School
Height: 5â€™1â€ť Weight: 145 lbs.
Kenneth plans to attend college and major in Chemistry with the ultimate goal of going to medical school and becoming an anesthesiologist.Â He has yet to decide on the college.Â Kenneth was named the District 9 Sports Special Teams Player of the year and was 1st team All State Class A.Â He was selected to the Olean Times Herald Big 30 All Star team and was a 2009 Allegany Valley Soccer League All Star. He wants to play in the Raabe Classic because, â€śâ€¦I will be able to see all the great players I with and against in an exciting game with a great atmosphereâ€ť.Â Kennethâ€™s greatest thrill came when he successfully kicked a 40 yard field goal in Port Alleganyâ€™s homecoming game.Â During his free time he works as an E.M.T. for the Port Area Ambulance Service.Â Kenneth also enjoys boating, jet skiing and loves traveling to various parts of the country.Â Â He is a fan of the New England Patriots and Mason Crosby.
Cameron County High School
Height: 6â€™1â€ť Weight: 240 lbs.
Although undecided with regard to school and course of study, Andrew hopes to attend a four year college and continue his football career while there.Â He was the recipient of the Red Raidersâ€™ Echo Award as defensive player of the year.Â He was an Allegany Mountain League All Star for 2008, 2009 and 2010, an Olean Times Herald All Star all three years and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.Â Andrew was named 4th team All State in 2010.Â Several of Andrewâ€™s family members have played in and coached in the Raabe Classic so being invited is both an honor and a family passion.Â Andrewâ€™s best memory was winning the District 9 title in 2008.Â He enjoys weight lifting hunting, fishing, hockey and hanging out with friends in his leisure hours.Â Andrew is a fan of the St. Louis Rams and Steven Jackson.
Elk County Catholic High School
Height: 5â€™9â€ť Weight: 230 lbs.
Zac is an honor student and was A.T.A Trap Shooting â€“ PA All State 1st Team 2010.Â He will attend Lindenwood University in St Charles, Missouri on a trap shooting scholarship and major in business and sports management.Â He was a three year letter winner in football and a 2 years letterman in baseball.Â A team captain for the 2010 season he was named to the Olean Times Herald Big 30 All Star Team and an Allegany Mountain League All Star for 2009 and 2010.Â He received the Crusadersâ€™ 2009 Coaches Award. Zac is excited to play in the Raabe Classic to play with and against the highest caliber athletes the area can offer.Â His biggest football thrill was beating Curwensville in triple overtime in the first round of the District 9 Playoffs.Â In his free time Zac enjoys trap and skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and ice hockey.Â He is a fan of Mario Williams and his own Fantasy Football team.Â
