Crusaders lose in overtime to Bradford

The Bradford Owls outscored the Elk County Catholic Crusaders by a 6-3 margin in overtime Wednesday night to take over sole possession of the District 9 League with a 5-0 record. Bradford won the game 42-39.
The Crusaders led by a 36-34 score with 2:14 left in regulation. Bradford's Tyler Wilber tied the game at 36 with 1:19 left. The Crusaders then held the ball for the last shot but were unable to convert forcing the four minute overtime period.
Cory Huff sank three of four foul shots in the first minute of overtime, giving ECC the 39-36 lead. Matt Yurkewicz of the Owls hit a field goal to make it 39-38. Elk turned the ball over. Wilber sank two foul shots with 1:48 left to give the Owls the 40-39 lead. Both teams had opportunities to score but missed the mark. A missed Bradford foul shot with 13 seconds left was rebounded by ECC. However, the Crusaders turned the ball over with 3.5 seconds remaining. David Ackerman made one of two foul shots for the Owls, 41-39. Bradford's Anthony Zimbardi was fouled with 1.8 seconds left. He converted one of two to make the final score 42-39.
