Donald C. Smoot Jr.

Donald C. Smoot Jr., age 62, of Stump Creek, formerly of Ridgway for many years, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at his residence after a short illness.
He was born Oct. 29, 1948, in Philadelphia, son of Donald Sr. and Elizabeth (Herens) Smoot, deceased. He married Sandra (Thompson) Smoot, also of Stump Creek; she survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during Vietnam. He was formerly an orderly at Elk Regional Health Center in Ridgway and was Catholic by faith. He attended Bishop Newman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and enjoyed camping.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Smoot of Warren and Joshua Smoot of Masury, Ohio; one half-brother, Edward Radley of Greensburg; and three grandchildren.
Family and friends will be welcome on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home, 212 East Main Street in Sykesville from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville with Fr. Richard Allen officiating.
