Elkers defeat Smethport in home opener

It may be a new season and a new starting lineup for Ridgway boys basketball but it was a familiar result for the Elkers.
Ridgway boys basketball opened the season with a 69-26 victory over Smethport Friday night at Ridgway Area High School on the first night of the 2013-2014 winter sports season.
Joe Horning opened the scoring for the Elkers by scoring Ridgway's first six points of the season en route to an early 6-2 lead two minutes in. After a Ryan Corbett runner, Josh Roselli nailed his first 3-pointer of the new campaign for a 9-4 lead. A Ryan Stratton free throw for Smethport would be followed by a Ben MacDonald hoop as Ridgway lead 11-5 midway through the opening quarter.
