Elkers show improvement against Cameron County

January 9, 2013

Mike Popson of Ridgway has a takedown signaled by referee Justin Burkhouse against Tony Olivett of Cameron County during a 3-1 decision for the Elker wrestler Tuesday night. The takedown occurred with 23 seconds left in the third period and was the difference in the match.

Ridgway wrestling won the majority of the matches wrestled on the mat but three forfeits helped propel Cameron County to a 38-30 win over the Elkers Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway won six of the 10 matches wrestled on the mat.
"They wrestled really well with a lot of emotion," Ridgway coach David Fordoski said. "The kids are really coming along. They're believing in what we're doing in the practice room and they're starting to bring it out to the mat."
