Eva M. Flegal

Eva M. Flegal, 84, of 249 West Center St., Johnsonburg, died Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 21, 1929 in Spartansburg, daughter of the late Robert and Agnes Rugar Vanderhoof.
On Sept. 12, 1947 in Warren, she married A. Earl Flegal. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2010.
She resided in Johnsonburg since her marriage and attended school in Spartansburg.
She attended Johnsonburg United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Bible Study where she enjoyed the many friends she met there. Eva was an avid quilter and her children and grandchildren will forever enjoy the beautiful quilts she gave them. Along with her husband Earl, she really enjoyed making, painting and decorating for all the holidays so that others could enjoy their work.
She had worked at Stackpole Carbon Co. of Johnsonburg and then IPM for 10 years.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Flegal and his wife Sabrina of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard Flegal and his wife Young Sun of New Stanton; two daughters, Linda, Mrs. Robbie Robinson of Ridgway, and Cathy, Mrs. Babe O'Connor of Johnsonburg; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Vanderhoof; and one daughter, Mary Brown of Spring Creek.
In addition to her grandparents, parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Damien O'Connor; brothers Norman, Robert and Cleon; and a sister, Shirley.
A Remembrance Service for Eva M. Flegal will be conducted at the residence of her daughter, Cathy O'Connor, located at 334 Water St., Johnsonburg on Thursday evening, May 8 at 6 p.m.
Officiating will be Rev. Jay Tennies, pastor of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements under direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, Pa.
