Firefighters respond to Johnsonburg blaze

JOHNSONBURG – Area firefighters responded to a fire shortly after 12:30 a.m. early Friday morning in the 200 block of Blaine Avenue in Johnsonburg.
The call came in at 12:33 a.m. to 204 Blaine Ave., a residence situated on a borough road running parallel to the state Route 219 bypass.
Elk Company 2 (Johnsonburg) and St. Marys Ambulance were called at 12:33 a.m.; Elk Company 1 (Crystal Fire Department out of St. Marys), Elk Company 4 (Ridgway), Elk Company 6 (Wilcox) were called out at 12:44 a.m., and Elk Company 5 (Jay Township) responded at 1 a.m.
The fire appeared to have started somewhere on the second floor of the house, and spread to the attic as those levels of the house were fully engulfed in flames and smoke.
The residents safely exited the home. No further information was available at the scene.
