Gerald “Jerry” Northrop

Gerald “Jerry” Northrop, age 74, of Rasselas Road, Rasselas, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian of Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 27, 1937 in Girard, son of Arnold and Gertrude (Sample) Northrop, both deceased.
He married Janice (Fitch) on Feb 8, 1958 and she survives.
Mill Wright worked with Weyerhaeuser of Ridgway for 13 years and retired in 1999 from Kane Hardwoods after 21 years. He was a member of Wilcox Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers with his family, his Ford 8N tractor, hunting, cutting firewood, watching wildlife, the outdoors and the Sunday Polka party. He lived all his life in Rasselas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Gerald A. and his wife Sandy Northrop of Wilcox, Thomas A. and his wife Denise Northrop of Lake Ariel, Cheryl A. and her husband Theodore Howard of Hollidaysburg, Carol D. Northrop of Kane and Ronald J. Northrop of Glen Hazel; five grandchildren, Ashley I., Shane T., Shannon A., Marshall A. Northrop and Theodore J. Howard; one brother, Jack A. and Sandra Northrop of Kane; and one sister, Dianne M. Mazer of Maryland.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by one son, Randal L. Northrop.
Visitation will be Friday, June 17, 2011 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg.
Funeral Services will 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Ubel Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Fair presiding.
Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery in Wilcox.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
