The Elk County Historical Society [ECHS] will be hosting their annual Christmas Exhibit/Open House at the Center House Museum at 109 Center St. in Ridgway this Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
This year's special exhibit focuses on He-Man & the Masters of the Universe memorabilia dating as far back as 1982 and Cabbage Patch dolls; one as old as 30 years and in excellent condition.
Society director Mary Kalinowski began hosting the Christmas Exhibit when she began working for the Historical Society in 2007.
"Every year we try to do something different," Kalinowski said.
The ECHS will again be a stop along the Holiday Cheer Tour on Friday evening and will be serving spiked egg nog, hot chocolate and hors d'oeuvres.
"We had a fabulous turnout last year," Kalinowski said. "We had visitors right up until close. We have a good turnout on Saturday as well, because the kids really enjoy it."
The exhibit and open house is free and everyone is welcome to attend. Christmas books and ornaments will be on sale throughout the weekend.
Christmas movies will be also be screened Friday and Saturday.
"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and "It's A Wonderful Life" will be shown on Friday and children's cartoons and movies will be shown on Saturday.
Kalinowski said Saturday is for the kids and they will be sent home with a goody bag.
The drawing for the plant stand will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday. The stand is made of solid cherry wood with a solid granite top. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available from any board member or at the Historical Society. All proceeds benefit the Elk County Historical Society.
The Christmas Exhibit/Open House marks the last event for the season and the Historical Society will be closed afterward until April unless by appointment.
