James A. Newlon

James A. Newlon, 56, of 224 Harbridge Dr., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1955 in Mansfield, Ohio son of the late Kenneth and Joyce (Cowger) Newlon. He married Rebecca J. Burkett on Oct. 22, 1977 she survives. He had resided in the Ridgway area for the last 26 years and was a former Apollo resident. He was Protestant by faith. Jim was a member of the Ridgway Elks Club where he was a past exalted ruler, he was also a member of the American Legion Post #208, and the V.F.W. He was a graduate of the Kiski Area High School in 1973. He was the previous owner of the Ridgway Grill and had been employed by the V.F.W. and the Ridgway Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca J. Newlon of Ridgway; one daughter, Kelly J. Newlon of Ridgway; one brother, Jerry Newlon of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Newlon.
A Memorial Service for James A. Newlon will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation.
Memorials if desired can be made to the American Red Cross or to the Helpmates Home Nurses. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
