Johnsonburg advances to second round with rout

March 9, 2013

Mason Walters jumps for a shot around four Eisenhower defenders late in a 62-30 win for the Johnsonburg Rams in the first round of the PIAA Class A boys' basketball playoffs.

CLARION – It didn't take long for Johnsonburg to assert its will over Eisenhower.
After an emphatic opening block from Cameron Grumley on the game's first sequence, the Rams sprinted to a 17-7 first-quarter lead en route to a 62-30 win over the Knights Friday night in the first round of the PIAA Class A boys' basketball playoffs held at Clarion University.
Grumley swatted an opening layup from Aaron Lundmark off the opening tip.
"I don't know if that took them out of the game right there but it was a message, sure," Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. "It was definitely a message."
