Johnsonburg boys basketball wins 20th game of season

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg boys basketball finished the regular season with a 75-36 victory over St. Marys Wednesday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
After the two teams exchanged early field goals, the Rams went on an 8-0 run to establish an early cushion. Johnsonburg senior Kyle Sheldon opened the run with a 3-pointer and fellow senior Caleb Hefright would add a free throw. Another fellow senior, Frank Kocjancic would added a bucket off a second-chance opportunity and senior teammate Mitchell Holmberg would tally two free throws as the Rams established a 10-2 advantage at the 5:18 mark of the first quarter.
Caleb Bennett would drain a 3-pointer for the Dutch to push St. Marys within five at 10-5 but the Rams would score seven straight points. Johnsonburg junior guard Cameron Grumley would hit a 2-pointer and then a trey, Kocjancic followed with a hoop of his own for a 17-5 lead with 3:24 left in the first quarter.
