JOHNSONBURG – Members of the Johnsonburg volleyball program, and parents and relatives gathered recently to celebrate the 2013 season and pay tribute to the program's two departing seniors, Chelsea Benson and Emily Dubler.
"With 24 girls, you can't do it all yourself and our coaching staff works together very well, and we make it fun-- the assistant coaches make it fun for me, and for the girls, and I appreciate their efforts," said head varsity volleyball coach Bill Shuey during the event. "If it wasn't for the girls, there wouldn't be a volleyball team. With every school that we went to, athletic directors would tell us that we have a nice group of girls, they clean up after themselves on the bench, their demeanor is very sportsmanlike and we were recognized for that. It's a good thing. We didn't win many games but we won a lot of hearts in other schools with the way that this team carried itself."
