Lois F. Sprague, 64, of 22 Bassett St., Jamestown, died at 2:30 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, in home, with her dear friend and caregiver, Marilyn Carlquist by her side, who along with hospice cared for her during her short but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 20, 1948 in Johnsonburg, the daughter of the late Theodore B. Sprague and Violet (Dusch) Sprague of Johnsonburg.
A 1966 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, she was a member of United Methodist Church of Johnsonburg.
Surviving is her son, Jason Sanford of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Mae (Sprague) Renwick of Florida; an aunt, Sara (Dusch) Wonderling; niece, Brenda (Howard) Kopp; two nephews: Gary Howard and Ted Howard; many cousins; her pet dog and loyal friend, Cody; her friends: Cindy Depas and family, Marilyn Carlquist, Shane Olmstead, Brian (Jen) Olmstead, Dakota Olmstead; many friends of Jamestown; and the girls at McDonalds.
Before moving to Jamestown 15 years ago, she lived in Johnsonburg, where she was employed by IPM for many years and later at McDonalds of Jamestown.
She will be greatly missed by her best friend, Dakota. They enjoyed fishing and grape and cherry picking every fall.
She will be remembered for her love of bingo, where you could find her regularly, and having holiday parties.
During her final days, her cousin, Kay Viglione and her childhood friend, Linda Robinson from Johnsonburg, would make weekly trips to visit, which was a joy to Lois. They would talk about growing up and that was something Lois looked forward to and would put a smile on her face-- goodbye my friend.
No funeral service will be observed at this time. She donated her body to the University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program with the hopes of helping someone else.
Donations may be made to the SPCA as she truly loved animals.
