Marie I. Swanson

Marie I. Swanson, 92, formerly of 136 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, died Friday morning, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility.
She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Coal Glen, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (McLaughlin) Luke.
She married Verner F. Swanson on May 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2002.
She had resided in Dagus Mines for many years. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Covenant Women.
She is survived by one son, David Swanson and his wife, Laurie, of Rochester, N.Y.; one daughter, Verna Nickel and her husband, Kenneth, of North Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; one sister, Jolene Hudson, of Buffalo, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Krebs, Betty Jane Fink, and Evelyn Glowacki.
Funeral and committal services for Marie I. Swanson will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church on Monday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m.
Officiating will be Rev. Craig W. Duffield, Pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Evangelical Covenant Church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church at 315 Center St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
