Mary H. Jacobs

June 1, 2014

Mary H. Jacobs, 80, of 618 North Maple Ave., Ridgway, died Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1933 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Ben and Jennie (DeMucci) Marzella. She married William L. Jacobs on Feb. 12, 1955, and he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all her life and was a 1953 graduate of St. Leo High School. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Mary had been employed by Stackpole Carbon, the St. Marys Bakery, Cronk's Flowers and Fox's Pizza in Ridgway.
Mary enjoyed baking and cooking, not only for her family and friends, but for others. She was very caring and always put others and their concerns first and never asked for anything. Her kitchen always smelled of food cooking, whether it be for family, friends or charity. Many pies were made by her loving hands for charity and her cream puffs were in very high demand by all who were lucky enough to taste them.
She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, not only to her family but to many whom she treated as her own and called her Mom. She was loved deeply by all of her family and friends and cherished watching everyone grow. She will be deeply missed by all. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
Our mom's message to all who knew her: Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond's glint on snow. I am the sunlight on the ripening grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quest birds in circled flights. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die. God invited me up to Heaven. It's a joyous day I ask you to share so please don't cry for me today.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Scott Jacobs and his wife Missy of St. Marys, Steve Jacobs and his wife Carol of Ridgway, Susie Franco and her husband Larry of Johnsonburg, Sandy Buhler and her husband Mike of Ridgway; 13 grandchildren, Autumn Scanlon and her husband Doug, Jonathan Huey, Michael Jacobs, Kyle Jacobs, Kiersten Jacobs, Katherine Jacobs, Ben Franco and his wife Amber, Chery Franco, Erica Nida and her husband Brad, Joe Buhler and his wife Samantha, Ray Buhler, Ed Buhler, Maria Buhler; six great-grandchildren, Avary and Emmalyn Nida, Jayden and Cain Buhler, Tyler Scanlon, and Ella Franco; two brothers, James Marzella and his wife Esther of Ridgway and Anthony Marzella of Ridgway; three sisters, Lucy Ferragine and her husband James of Johnsonburg, Violet Nanula and her husband Anthony of Lewistown, N.Y. and Lena DeStefano of Covina, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
