Mary Lynn Keller Sykes

Mary Lynn Keller Sykes, 89, of 339 Dewey Circle, Ridgway, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 following a brief illness.
She was born July 28, 1925 in Yatesboro, daughter of the late Alice May (Morrow) Hoover and Lynn E. Hoover.
On June 12, 1950, she married Ralph W. Keller Jr. who preceded her in death May 8, 1975. On July 16, 1977, she married Ray B. Sykes who preceded her in death March 2, 2011.
She graduated from the Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1945 with a degree in home economics. Mrs. Sykes taught home economics for many years at the Ridgway Area High School, retiring in 1980. She took great pleasure in meeting and chatting with her former students.
With her first husband, she is survived by their children, Margaret M. Keller (Nigel Robbins) of Sudbury, Ontario, and Martha Keller (Richard) Masson of St. Marys; a granddaughter, Hannah Masson of Pittsburgh; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
With her second husband, she is survived by his children, Ray (Nancy) Sykes of Pensacola, Fla., Marianne (Myron) Fernstrom of Warren, John Sykes of Lewes, Del., Helen Sykes of Phoenix, Ariz., and Elizabeth Sykes of Warren; and their children and grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Jean (Harry) Everhart.
A funeral for Mary Lynn Keller Sykes will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ridgway, or to the Elk County Humane Society, St. Marys.
