Ernest Mattiuz Jr. of Kersey, elected to the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau's board of directors in late 2013, presented a spring legislative update Tuesday morning during an Elk County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The bureau designates the second week of March on an annual basis as local government affairs week. The presentation sought to inform elected officials of current legislative issues currently being addressed by the state farm bureau.
"We encourage county fair bureaus to meet with their local elected officials to set up a working relationship in case there are ever any issues that come up in the county," Mattiuz said. "We really don't have too many issues within our county but there are several legislative issues that the farm bureau is working on both in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C."
