Pauline E. Smith

Pauline E. Smith, 69, formerly of 521 West Main St., Ridgway, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the DuBois Village.
She was born March 16, 1943 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Virginia Bush.
She was married to the late H.O. Kenneth Smith, the former postmaster in St. Marys.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and had been the Ridgway Township Tax Collector for 18 years, retiring in 2001.
She is survived by the following children: Nina (Timothy) Cowan and Patricia (Curt) Gosnell both of Ridgway, James (Trish) Smith of Texas, and Tammy Devers of DuBois; six grandchildren, Jordan and Dustin Cowan, Lacey and Curt Gosnell, Brian Grinstead, and Brian Devers; a sister, Sally Shilk of St. Marys; a brother, Edward (Debbie) Northrop of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by the following siblings: May Steger, Eugene Northrop, Lawrence Northrop Jr., and Bobby in infancy.
At Pauline's request, there will be no visitation and no memorial service.
Memorial donations can be made to the Ridgway Ambulance Corp. or to the Ridgway Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
