Pay for substitute teachers on the rise

April 11, 2014

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Area School Board of Directors recently voted to increase pay rates for substitute teachers from $80 per day to $100 per day. The resolution, suggested by superintendent Dennis Crotzer was approved unanimously by the board. The resolution was created due to the fact that Johnsonburg, along with the other districts across Elk County, have been struggling to find substitutes during the 2013-14 school year.
The original resolution stated the rate would begin at $90 and rise to $100 after working in the district for 30 days. However, the board opted to go straight to $100 in order to make Johnsonburg's pay more competitive.
