Ralph A. Gasbarre

Ralph A. Gasbarre, 78, of 112 Cushing Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday night, Dec. 18, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 20, 1935 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Sabatino and Elizabeth Mangine Gasbarre.
On July 2, 1960 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Mary Bliss and she survives.
A lifelong Johnsonburg resident, he attended Johnsonburg public schools, and was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.
He was an Army veteran having served as a PFC with Company A 2nd Medium Tank Battalion, 37th Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He served overseas in Germany from Oct. 1, 1958 to March 2, 1960 with Elvis Presley as a member of the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armored Division.
He was employed by Keystone Carbon Co. for 42 years before retiring in 1995.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and bowling.
In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by two sons, Donald W. Gasbarre and his wife Paula, and Dennis W. Gasbarre and his wife Lori C., all of Johnsonburg; one daughter, Lori Ann Gasbarre of Johnsonburg; two grandchildren, Joshua and Merisa Gasbarre; three sisters, Ann Marie Gasbarre of Ridgway, and Rose Marie Gasbarre and Veronica Burrs, both of Johnsonburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Samuel, John, Bill and Richard Gasbarre; and three sisters, Pauline Austin, Carolyn Gasbarre, and Columba Caiazzo.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ralph A. Gasbarre will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, Pastor. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Ridgway.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m.
