Ramettes have no trouble with Sheffield, cruise to 3-1

Johnsonburg junior Chelsea Benson, right, and Brittany Watts, move in to cover Sheffield senior Abby Labesky during the Ramettes' 55-38 win Friday night.

JOHNSONBURG – The Ramettes overcame early foul trouble and cold shooting to improve to 3-1 on the season with a 55-38 victory Friday night against visiting Sheffield.
The Ramettes were paced by senior point guard Rhianon Fowler, whose 14 points led the team; Fowler was complemented by junior Chelsea Benson, who also crept into double digits with 11 points.
Johnsonburg held a 28-17 lead at halftime but saw the margin quickly evaporate to six points after Sheffield stormed out in the second half with a three-pointer from senior Jen Isenberg, who paced the Lady Wolverines with a game-high 14 points, and a subsequent field goal from senior Hannah Vile after a Johnsonburg turnover.
The Ramettes regrouped, however, with a 10-0 run to take a 38-22 lead.
"I didn't really know who to put the defender on but once [Isenberg] started hitting some three-pointers, we switched things up to take care of that," said Johnsonburg head varsity girls basketball coach Mike Zilkofski after his team's third win of the season. "Our defense played well but we want to see some improvement in our foul shooting."
