JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams (17-1) had little trouble Monday as they toppled DuBois Central Catholic (10-11) 75-48 in an Allegheny Mountain League [AML] crossover game.
The Rams were led by juniors Cameron Grumley and Cole Peterson as each scored 17 points in the victory. Seniors Quinn Luhr and Kyle Sheldon followed with 12 and 11 points, respectively, and senior Mitchell Holmberg chipped in eight in the 27-point win.
"I thought we missed a lot of opportunities in the first half and we didn't finish as well as we should have, but we finished better in the second half," said Johnsonburg head boys varsity basketball coach Bill Shuey. "In the first half we shot 40 percent from the foul line and at this point in the season I'd be expecting something better than that. We have been able to shoot better but we've been off for a week so maybe we've been rusty, I don't know, but we seemed to get the cobwebs out in the second half as we played a lot better."
