The Ridgway Area School Board of Directors approved the resignation of district superintendent Dr. Michael O'Brien on Tuesday evening. It was moved by Dave Parsons and seconded by Kathy Lampman that the board accept the resignation of O'Brien, effective Aug. 8, with regret. The motion was carried unanimously, aside from Gloria Almquist-Shull and Cindy Allegretto who were not present at the meeting.
Following the acceptance of the resignation, the district announced a schedule for their superintendent search which, according to district finance manager Brent Rhoads, is "tentative."
