Ridgway dominates Sheffield

January 10, 2013

Jesse Reynolds glides to the basket for a layup over Dylan McNeal of Sheffield.

A strong second quarter by Ridgway boys basketball wouldn't allow Sheffield a second chance to regroup in the second half.
Ridgway outscored the Wolverines 28-7 in the second quarter en route to a 30-point halftime lead and a 74-28 victory over Sheffield Wednesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway was especially dominant in the final six minutes of the second quarter, going into halftime on a 24-2 run. With Ridgway a lead ahead 17-9, Sam Roselli converted a field goal and Josh Mitchell would hit from 3-point range for a 22-9 lead. Two free throws from Jesse Reynolds had the lead to 15 and five straight points from sophomore guard Josh Roselli extended the lead to 29-9 with 3:49. Reynolds led all scorers with 24 points. Josh Roselli and Sam Roselli each had eight points for Ridgway.
A Brendan Winslow bucket for the Wolverines broke the Sheffield scoring drought with 3:30 left before halftime but the Elkers would score 14 straight points to close out the half. Reynolds converted a 3-pointer and a subsequent layup for a 34-11 lead. Joe Jaques added a field goal in the lane before Reynolds stepped back for another 3-pointer and a 39-11 lead. Buckets by Ben MacDonald and Luke Bobby closed out the half for Ridgway as the Elkers led 43-11 entering the locker room.
