September 23, 2013

PINE TWP. – Four Ridgway residents were severely injured in a two-vehicle crash in Clearfield County on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Clearfield-based state police, the crash occurred at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday on state Route 153 in Pine Township, Clearfield County as a 2007 GMC Sierra operated by Robert Wiseman, 44, of Hyde, was traveling southbound and a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis operated by Rebecca Towne, 48, of Ridgway, was traveling northbound.
Wiseman attempted to pass a vehicle in front of his GMC but lost control and his vehicle traveled east into the oncoming lane. His GMC slid sideways and was impacted by Towne's Mercury, as Towne was unable to slow or avoid Wiseman's vehicle.
On impact, Wiseman's GMC was flipped onto its roof, entrapping Wiseman, and it burst into flames. Towne's Mercury was forced backwards trapping/incapacitating Towne and her three passengers: David Towne, 51, of Ridgway; Katlin Wolfe, 22, of Ridgway; and a 17-year-old male, of Ridgway. Towne's vehicle also burst into flames.
The operators and passengers of both vehicles were pulled to safety by witnesses and passersby as both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames. All occupants were transported from the scene with severe injuries.
SR 153 was closed for several hours to allow for the investigation and reconstruction.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact PSP Clearfield.
Assisting the Clearfield State Police on scene were the DuBois and Dusan Ambulance, Clearfield EMS, and Lawrence Twp. and Penfield Fire Departments.
