Ridgway wrestling loses home opener to Brockway

December 11, 2013

Drew Baumgratz stares down Wyatt Caruso of Brockway during their 120-pound match Tuesday. Baumgratz pinned Caruso in 3:06 for the Elkers.

Brockway wrestling won 35-27 over Ridgway Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School in the home opener for the Elkers.
Brockway won six of the nine matches wrestled on the mat. The Rovers received two forfeits while the Elkers received one. Two weights had no match.
"We had a lot of chances, we just didn't capitalize when we had to," Ridgway coach David Fordoski said. "It was one of those things where we knew if we won a couple of those matches, we had a chance to win the dual meet. Unfortunately, in a lot of those situations we didn't come through with the win when we needed it. That was kind of tough. I definitely thought we did have a chance. We needed some heroes, we didn't have enough.
"It's nice to have the kids working hard," Fordoski said. "It's unfortunate we didn't come through with a win, it's something I thought we could have attained but just didn't happen."
