School board holds brief meeting

The Ridgway Area School District's School Board held a meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. in the elementary school library.
The only item on the agenda was a motion, which was passed by the board, to approve the expulsion of a seventh-grade student.
The expulsion will last one year if the student meets certain criteria, which middle school Principal Heather McMahon-Vargas discussed privately with the student. If the student fails to meet the criteria, the expulsion will be permanent.
