Stephen Dee (Reno) Burfield
Stephen Dee (Reno) Burfield, born Sept. 18, 1942 in DuBois, died Monday, May 16, 2011. He was the son of the late Darrell I. and Lillian R. (Swanson) Burfield-Gehman. Step- son of Ardell Gehman.Steve was a 1960 graduate of Ridgway High School, Ridgway, PA. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a crew member on the U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides). Also, U.S. Naval Station, Keflavik, Iceland, and Headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Europe, London, England.He worked in the construction field for many years and worked for Saint Mary¹s Home of Erie in the maintenance department for 17 years, retiring in 2004. Steve was a member of the Carl Neff American Legion, Post 571, inWesleyville. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders, Chapter 571.He was associated with Boy Scout Troop 176 in Edinboro and he served as Troop Committee Man, Merit Badge Counselor, and Scout Master. While serving in the troop he was associated with 14 scouts that made the rank of Eagle Scout.Steve began a lifelong hobby of motorcycling in 1963 in London, England. His other interests were family, camping/trailering, hunting with black powder rifles and shotguns.Steve was also a successful entrepreneur having run several small businesses, the most recent one being Reno¹s Hot Dogs, which he owned and operated for six years.He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell I. Burfield and his son,Joseph Blake Burfield.He is survived by his mother, Lillian R. (Swanson) Burfield-Gehman and stepfather Ardell Gehman; daughter Juliet Burfield-Rastatter and her husband, Andrew; a sister, Susan Barker; and faithful friend Dorothy Brigham-Burfield; stepchildre, Michael Sporcic and his wife May; Christina Cornell, Kyle Sporcic, Rachael Sporcic, and Christine Eaton and her husband Tim; and two grandchildren, and many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.Arrangements were held at the the Francis V.
