Theodora "Teddy" Armstrong

Theodora "Teddy" Armstrong, 84, died peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, Pa.
Born Dec. 24, 1929, her parents were Horatio Winfield and May Isabel (Brown) Thomas of Keeseville N.Y. Teddy graduated from Keeseville Central School in 1947. On April 4, 1948, she wed Malcolm M. Armstrong. They relocated in 1956 to Johnsonburg.
Teddy devoted her life to volunteer service in her community. As a lifetime active Girl Scout, she was elected to receive two "Thanks Badges" (1985, 2002), the highest adult Girl Scout honor awarded for ongoing commitment and outstanding service. She served years on the region's Keystone Tall Tree G.S. Council as Board Member, and as 1st Vice-President 1986-1989.
For many years, Teddy served in the PTA; the Elk County Concert Association; Gateway Art League; Elk County Penn State Cooperative Extension; & Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Through RSVP she served through Meals-On-Wheels; the Elk Co. Hospital Thrift Shop; and the Elk Co. Hospital Auxiliary. 
The Johnsonburg Senior Center, Election Board, and Office of Human Services Board all benefited from Teddy's years of commitment and service. From 1999 -2001, Teddy organized and administrated a region-wide Millennium Quilt Project & Exhibition Tour to raise funds for Cancer Research.
Teddy is preceded in death by her husband Malcolm, and daughter Cathy Armstrong-Resh (Jim) of Creekside. Surviving are children Jeffrey, Thomas, and Amy (Mrs. Dan Provias) of Indiana; grandchildren Ian Bonnet (Rachel), Reed Bonnet, Jacob Smith (Brooke), Iva Provias, Eleanor Provias; and great-grandchildren Rowan and Heron Bonnet, and Greyson Smith.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life for Teddy will be held at the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, Saturday April 5 at 1 p.m. Her family invites you to join them beforehand from noon for fellowship and sharing, and to the meal to be served there afterward.
