Wayne C. Brechtel

Wayne C. Brechtel, 65, of 159 Terra Cotta, Johnsonburg, died Aug. 31, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born March 14, 1949 in Ridgway, son of Eugene R. "Gene" and Catherine J. Rezmerski Brechtel.
He resided in Johnsonburg for the past 14 years and formerly resided in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Frostburg, Md. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, class of 1967. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Central Hose Co., and served in the Pa. National Guard. He had played AAA baseball in the Houston Astros Farm System. He loved to play cards.
He was employed at Georgia Pacific Particle Board in Mt. Jewett for eight years, retiring in 2014. He had also worked for Sea Ray Boats for 15 years.
He is survived by his long time life partner Jo Dee Nearing with whom he resided. He was also survived by a son, Paul C. Brechtel and his wife Trish of White Plains, Md.; two step-daughters, Brandee, Mrs. Earl Cherry of Johnsonburg and Amy, Mrs. Dean McClain of St. Marys; a step-son, Francisco Mancera of Montana; grandchildren, Logan Brechtel, Noah and Sofiya Cherry and Jackson, Jake, Jimmy and Kasey McClain; a brother, Richard "Rick" Brechtel and his wife Julia of Johnsonburg; a sister, Marsha, Mrs. Robert Calla of Johnsonburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lisa Brechtel, in infancy.
A funeral service for Wayne C. Brechtel will be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.
Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, Pa.
