WILCOX – Wilcox made sure their huge first inning was good enough for an opening victory in the American Legion playoffs.
Wilcox sent 14 to the plate and scored 10 runs en route to a 10-5 victory over Mt. Jewett Wednesday evening in the first round of the Elk County American Legion playoffs.
Mt. Jewett had already established a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Wilcox came through with a 10-run first inning, mostly scoring those runs with two outs. Cole Peterson led off the inning with a single and stole second. Peterson moved to third as Neil MacDonald grounded out to short. Ben MacDonald and Dave Sallack walked before Josh Raubenstrauch struck out. Peterson scored on a wild pitch and Taylor Feronti followed with a two-run single which scored Ben MacDonald and Sallack for a 3-0 lead.
