William Harold Covert Jr

William Harold Covert Jr., 82, of 302 Vernon Ave., Ridgway, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1929, in East Smethport, the son of the late William H. and Catherine Marie Oviatt Covert Sr. On April 5, 1991, he married Laura Mae Dickinson, who survives.
Mr. Covert had been a Ridgway resident for 12 years, formerly residing in Port Allegany. He was a member of the Awakening Alliance Church and was an avid reader and model railroader. He had been employed by the Smethport Borough Electric Company. In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Ann Marie Gardner of Turtlepoint, Valerie Jean Meacham (Michael) of Roulette, Janet Lee Atkinson of Turtlepoint, Carrie Spencer of Branchville, Va., Barbara Haggard (Tim) of Port Allegany, and Daniel Miller (Elizabeth) of Ridgway; two sisters, Catherine Fermon of Smethport and Carolyn Confer (Floyd) of Bradford; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Holly and Liana Lynn Bednarz; and by three brothers, Thomas, Howard, and Allan Covert.
Memorial services for William Harold Covert Jr. will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Awakening Alliance Church, 16915 Bootjack Road, Ridgway. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Hunter, pastor. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Smethport. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home.
