John Prencipe Jr., age 76, a Naperville, Ill. resident since 1980, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville, Ill.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1936 in Ridgway to John and Mary (nee Piccirillo) Prencipe, Sr.
John grew up in Ridgway and graduated from Ridgway Central High School in 1954. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and served as a radio operator for 8 years. He received an honorable discharge in 1963 achieving the rank of Airman 1st Class.
He began his career in finance working for Beneficial Finance where he worked for 25 years. He furthered his career at Mellon Bank and Associates Financial Group at an Executive level before finally retiring after 10 years to open his own financial institution U.S. Lending Group, Inc.
John married Dolores Martin in 1957 in Ridgway. They were happily married for 56 years. John was one of the “E-3” at the Glass Court where he thoroughly enjoyed working out, playing racquetball and spending time with his friends.
John is survived by his wife, Dolores Prencipe of Naperville, Ill.; his son and daughters, Cheryl (David) Robertson, of Kimberly, Idaho; Lori (David) Reed of Independence, La.; Mary Prencipe of Las Vegas, Nev.; John (Julie) Prencipe of Romeoville, Ill. and Tina (Greg) Vanden Brook of Bolingbrook, Ill.; his much adored grandchildren Cory, Danielle, Carson, David, Erica, Gavin, Cameron, Sophie and Christopher; and his many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Prencipe Sr.; his brother, Anthony Prencipe; and his son-in-law, David Robertson.
Visitation Wednesday, April 17, 3-8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin Thursday, April 18, 9 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2220 Lisson Rd, Naperville, IL 60565, (630)416-3325, .
A private family inurnment will be at the Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego, Ill.
