Anthony T. Adams, 82, passed away peacefully July 12, 2013 at the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home.
A resident of Erie since 1962, he was born March 31, 1931 in Johnsonburg and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1949.
He was an outstanding basketball player for JHS and also played football for the Johnsonburg Shamrocks and basketball and softball for the Merchants.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Signal Corp during the Korean crisis and resided at the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home for the past several years.
He owned Adams Atlantic Service in the 1960’s and later worked at Interlake Iron and then Hammermill Paper Company for over 30 years until he retired.
Tony was a lifelong Pirates and Steelers fan and always was an avid sports fan. He coached Erie Boys Baseball at Hammermill field for years and played on a number of local softball teams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Erich Spence Adams; his parents, William and Joanna Adams; his brother, William Adams; and his sisters, Philomena Miller, Dolores Veneziano and Joanna Adams.
He is survived by his daughter, Jane Kosobucki Cilladi (Joe); grandchildren Faith Adams and Nick Kosobucki (Kristen); three great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Adams (Shirley); and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the Razanauskas Funeral home, 701 East Avenue, Erie, Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 2-5 p.m.
The family has requested no flowers and no donations, Tony only loved his garden plants.
Interment will be private and at a later date.
