Lady Elkers down Sheffield on Senior Night

January 31, 2015

It was only fitting on Senior Night that Tonya Harlan would be the player putting an exclamation point on a Ridgway win with four points of her own.
Harlan closed out the game with two straight hoops and the Lady Elkers won 51-22 over Sheffield over Friday night.
Harlan was recognized before the game as the team's only senior on this year's team.
With the game out of reach, Harlan was able to hit a short bank shot with about 30 seconds left and then added a buzzer-beating layup to end the game and punctuate the victory.

Rams show vast improvement in win

January 31, 2015

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams (10-9) may be peaking at the right time after a 60-43 win Friday night over visiting Curwensville (5-12).
The Rams were led by Kevin Benson's 23 points, and teammate Zane Hodgdon followed with 12 in the win.
"I thought we played team basketball," said Johnsonburg head boys varsity basketball coach Bill Shuey. "We hit the open guy, fed the guy that gave us the best chance on the floor to score and we weren't rushing our shots.
"We rebounded well and played well on defense. We had some lapses but it was still pretty good."

It was a tale of two halves on Wednesday night in the Wolves’ Den. The Kane Lady Wolves’ basketball team hosted the Ridgway Lady Elkers and saw the visitors jump out to a 14-10 halftime lead. Coach Dave Kiehl’s Lady Wolves have struggled in the third quarter several times this season but came out of the locker room and put 16 points up on the scoreboard while holding Ridgway to two after the break. The hosts went on to post a 43-25 victory.
