Ridgway's Robert Briggs is the first Elker to be named to the Pennsylvania roster for the Big 30 Charities Classic. The 47th edition of the contest that pits PA all-stars vs. New York all-stars will be played Saturday, Aug. 1 at Bradford's Parkway Field. Briggs was a co-captain for the Ridgway team that won a 4th straight District 9 Championship. This past season he recorded 53 solo tackles and was in on 90 others. He also played offensive guard on the line that blocked the way for 2,720 rushing yards. More Elkers will be announced to the team in the coming weeks. The Ridgway staff which includes Head coach Mark Heindl and assistants Mickey Delhunty, Jack Kifer, Rich Viglione, and Tony Defilippi will coach this year’s Pennsylvania team. Also named this week to the PA squad were Elk County Catholic’s Jerred “Bear” Emmert, and Bradford’s Caleb Nuzzo.
