Elkers advance to D9 AA semi-finals with win over Smethport

The Ridgway Elkers outscored the Smethport Hubbers, 41-11 in the second half en route to a 50-27 District 9 Class AA quarter-final victory in Kane Thursday night. The victory moves third-seeded Ridgway onto the semi-finals where they will play second-seeded Coudersport (quarter-final bye) next Tuesday at a site to be determined. Matt Dush led the Elkers with 18 points and fellow senior Zack Zameroski added 15. The two combined for 23 of the team's second-half points. Dan Park added seven, Dominic Allegretto four, Dominic Gaudino three, and RJ Miller two for Ridgway. Connor Alfieri led Smethport with 11 points. The Hubbers led 10-3 at the end of the first period and 16-9 at the half. The Hubbers, who hit four three-pointers in the first half finish with a 13-10 record.
