Elkers travel to Kane for Friday night showdown

The Ridgway Elkers have been the “King of the Hill” in District 9 over the past three seasons. Friday night they will be looking to do something that they haven’t done since the 2011 season – beat the Wolves in Kane.
The Elkers won that contest, 14-0. The Wolves won the 2013 game 27-18 at Paul R. Miller Stadium. In 2015 Kane captured the District 9 AA title and defeated Ridgway 28-13. The 2017 game was a barn burner which saw the home team come out on top 19-14. Since 2011, Kane holds a 5-2 edge. The Elkers won last year’s game in Ridgway 34-6, and picked up a 21-20 thrilling victory in 2014.
“We told the kids that we have not beaten Kane in Kane since 2011. That’s two years before the co-op (with Johnsonburg) started. It’s been a long time in the making. We’ve had some dandies that could have gone either way. Kane plays extremely tough at home,” Elkers head coach Mark Heindl said.
