JOHNSONBURG - Johnsonburg Area High School Class of 2018 valedictorian Ben Freeburg spoke about friendship and the benefits of being in a small graduating class during his speech at commencement Friday night.
Freeburg opened his remarks by thanking God first and then his parents, Dan and Pam.
"I would like to thank my parents for raising my brother and me to be the young men we should be, young men who love their family and friends and respect their elders and their community.
Freeburg then recognized his younger brother, Jefferson.
"Even though he is younger than I am, he too has helped raise me. When he was born, he changed my life. He has always been there for me and I know he always will be. He will always be my best friend."
Freeburg recognized many including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, other students, teachers, principals, superintendents, coaches, janitors, secretaries and staff.
