Janet A. Schiafone

Janet A. Schiafone, 73, of Euclid Avenue, Brookville, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.She was born Oct. 14, 1940 in Barnesboro, daughter of the late William Hart Commons and Elizabeth Taylor Commons.On May 20, 2000 in Brookville, she married William Joseph Schiafone Sr., who survives.She worked as a custodian for the Brookville Area School District for over 25 years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Brookville, was an area director for Gideons International Auxiliary, a chaplain and vice president for the Jefferson County Chapter of the Gideons, and a former member of the Aglo Organization.She enjoyed painting and taking painting classes at the Heritage House in Brookville, but most importantly loved taking care of her home and especially her family.She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Wargo of Hawley, and Janice Bailey of Brookville; two sons, Daniel Stormer (Kelly) of Corsica, and Charles Stormer of Corsica; two stepdaughters, Linda Goss of Delray Beach, Fla., and Brenda Deal (Richard) of Kenesaw, Ga.; two stepsons, Allen Schiafone (Laurie) of Ridgway, and William Schiafone Jr. of Erie; one sister, Phylisa Noble (William) of Tullahoma, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Stormer; three brothers, William, Charles, and Richard Commons; and one sister, Betty Lou Shilling.A funeral service for Janet A. Schiafone will be held Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Brookville with the Rev. Henry Scoff presiding. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.Visitation will be Thursday, July 31 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville.Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Church of God, 201 Freedom Ln., Brookville, Pa. 15825, or Gideons International, P.O.
