Kielbowick reminisces about Ridgway Rifle Club

Staff Writer

After watching the awards given out Tuesday at the NRA National Silhouette Small Bore and Hunter Rifle Championships, Ridgway Rifle Club President Fred Kielbowick looked around at the huge crowd and smiled.
“I’ve been involved with silhouette shooting since the mid-’70s and these are some of the greatest people you could ever be with. This is just tremendous.
“It’s neat to have people from all over the world coming here and being able to rub shoulders with them. We find we all have so much in common and that is special,” he said.
In the early ’70s, the local club established the first Silhouette range east of the Mississippi River. Many Regional and State Championships were held in Ridgway, but members decided to take things a step further.
